#travelwithme to Dresden

We arrived in Dresden last weekend to visit some friends that live there, I was anxious
to see this city since I had heard so many things about it's history. What you have to
know about Dresden is that it is the capital city of the Free State of Saxony in Germany
& it's situated in a valley on the River Elbe - which make's it even more beautiful &
romantic - near the Czech border!

The city was known as the Jewel Box, because of its baroque and rococo city center -
you can clearly observe that from the pictures!
And now about it's history - I heard about the controversial British and American bombing
of Dresden in World War II towards the end of the war that has killed at least 25,000
civilians and destroyed the entire city center. Practicaly the hole center was ruined, no
building remained & they later reconstructed all these buiding that you can see in the
pictures from scratch!  They made it look just like before the bombing - AMAZING!

For me it was a wonderful experience to see this beautiful place & find out more about it's
controversial histor so I have to say it's a perfect destination for history & architecture
lovers! You can find even more about it's history in the movie "Dresden".
